The Superintendence of Banks of Ecuador held the inaugural Super Ciberseguridad 2025 sessions in Quito on 11–12 November, convening experts to address emerging cyber risks and defenses for the financial system and the public. The agenda covered cybercrime 3.0, the use of artificial intelligence in cybersecurity, technological defenses against cyber threats, security in payment channels, and promoting a cybersecurity culture. Speakers represented ISACA, the Ecuadorian Chamber of Innovation and Technology (CITEC), the Association of Banks of Ecuador (ASOBANCA), and credit information agencies Aval Buró and Equifax. Opening the event, Superintendent Roberto Romero von Buchwald framed cybersecurity as a citizen and family issue and linked safeguarding the financial system to protecting the people who use it, with the programme focused on strengthening supervisory capabilities across financial-system actors and providing citizens with practical tools to identify threats that could compromise their personal and monetary security online.
