The National Bank of Serbia reported that annual inflation slowed to 1.9% in July, mainly because an exceptionally good harvest reduced fruit and vegetable prices. Consumer prices fell 0.2% from June, led by monthly declines of 15.1% for fresh vegetables and 6.7% for fresh fruit. Food prices were 6.1% lower than a year earlier, with unprocessed food down 12.9% and processed food down 2.5%. Energy prices rose 9.3% year on year, including an 11.4% increase in petroleum product prices. Core inflation remained relatively stable at 4.5%, despite a 0.6% monthly increase driven mainly by seasonal package holiday prices.
