At Balkan Payments Forum 2026, the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo set out its view that Kosovo's payments transformation is advancing through legal reforms, modernised payments infrastructure, interoperability initiatives and alignment with European standards. Speaking on a high-level panel, Deputy Governor for Banking Operations Dardan Fusha highlighted progress toward Single Euro Payments Area integration, development of infrastructure for instant payments through TIPS Clone, implementation of the new Law on Payment Services and preparations for Open Banking. He said SEPA integration is expected to deliver faster, more transparent and lower-cost payments for citizens and businesses, while improving Kosovo businesses' access, visibility and cooperation opportunities with international partners and platforms and supporting closer economic integration with the European market. He also stressed regional cooperation and interoperability as supports for financial inclusion, innovation and more efficient cross-border payments, while underlining the need to maintain financial stability, operational resilience, cybersecurity and consumer protection during the transition.
