The International Association of Insurance Supervisors has opened a public consultation on its review of the Individual Insurer Monitoring (IIM) assessment methodology used in the Global Monitoring Exercise under the Holistic Framework. The consultation is intended to inform the next three-year application cycle for the IIM methodology (2026–2028) and will feed into an updated public Global Monitoring Exercise document. The IIM methodology produces a total score for each participating insurer to indicate the extent of a potential build-up of systemic risk at the individual insurer level. The methodology is reviewed every three years to reflect developments in the insurance sector, insurers’ activities, market growth and advances in measuring systemic importance. Comments are due by 18 August 2025 at 24:00 CEST and must be submitted through the IAIS consultation tool; consultation questions are optional, and comments will be published unless confidentiality is selected in the tool. A public background session webinar is scheduled for 27 June 2025 from 13:00 to 14:30 CEST to present the consultation document and answer stakeholder questions. After the deadline, the consultation tool will close and no further submissions will be accepted. The IAIS will consider the input received when finalising the IIM assessment methodology for the 2026–2028 cycle.
