The Austrian National Bank (OeNB) published an update on a comprehensive cooperation agreement signed with Austria’s Federal Ministry of the Interior and the Financial Market Authority to strengthen cybersecurity in Austria. The agreement formalises and institutionalises existing cooperation, putting collaboration and information sharing on a permanently binding footing. The arrangement is positioned as implementing requirements in the Network and Information Security Directive (NIS2), including Article 13(4) and (5), for structured cooperation between the NIS authority housed in the Ministry of the Interior and the financial sector’s DORA authorities. Priority areas include joint work on national and European programmes and projects, development of operationally coordinated initiatives, and joint training and further education activities, alongside thematic cooperation to support information exchange on serious ICT-related incidents and cyber threats and to embed the financial sector in Austria’s cybersecurity strategy.
