The European Securities and Markets Authority and the Belgian Financial Services and Markets Authority welcomed the European Money Markets Institute's inclusion of KBC Bank in the Euribor panel. They described the addition as a positive development that strengthens the robustness, reliability and representativeness of Euribor, which is an EU critical benchmark. Under the Benchmarks Regulation, the European Securities and Markets Authority supervises the European Money Markets Institute as Euribor's administrator, while national competent authorities supervise the banks that contribute to the benchmark. The Belgian Financial Services and Markets Authority supervises KBC Bank under that framework when the bank contributes to the calculation of Euribor. Euribor-related supervision is coordinated through the Euribor College of Supervisors, with the European Securities and Markets Authority as chair and the national authorities supervising panel banks as members.
