The Central Bank of Peru released data from SUNAT’s electronic payroll showing that total formal employment nationwide increased 3.9% year on year in May, extending the expansion to 14 consecutive months. The increase corresponds to 228,000 additional formal jobs between May 2024 and May 2025. Private-sector formal employment rose 5.1% over the same period, to 4.349 million jobs (up 212,000). Services recorded the largest increase (78,000 jobs), followed by agriculture (54,000) and commerce (22,000).
