The European Payments Council has included Moldova in the geographical scope of the Single Euro Payments Area payment schemes following the country’s alignment of its payment systems and regulations with European Union standards under the guidance of the National Bank of Moldova. Moldovan financial institutions will be able to seek adherence to the SEPA Credit Transfer, SEPA Instant Credit Transfer and SEPA Direct Debit schemes from April 2025. The earliest Operational Readiness Date for Moldovan payment service providers is Oct. 5, 2025. Existing scheme participants will be able to send and receive transactions to and from Moldova once the relevant Moldovan institutions have joined the schemes.
