The National Bank of Georgia reported that David Abesadze, Head of its Securities Market Supervision Department, participated in an International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) panel discussion in Malta during the annual meeting of IOSCO’s Growth and Emerging Markets Committee (GEMC), focused on implementation of sustainability reporting. The panel was held under the GEMC’s Sustainability Standards Implementation Network (SSIN), which supports IOSCO members implementing the reporting framework developed by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) and which the National Bank of Georgia joined in 2024. Discussions covered approaches to sustainability reporting policy design, regulatory frameworks, identifying entities subject to reporting requirements, and market readiness, and Abesadze also took part in a meeting of IOSCO’s European Regional Committee.
