The Brazil Securities Commission (CVM) has approved a technical cooperation agreement with the Federal Accounting Council (CFC) to enable the reciprocal sharing of information that is restricted within the CFC environment, with a focus on information relating to independent auditors and their activities within the CVM’s remit. The arrangement is intended to facilitate access to information that, due to legal and ethical confidentiality constraints, had not been made available across other parts of public administration, including between the CVM and the CFC. Under the prior agreement signed in 2020, the CFC became the main repository for information that independent auditors registered with the CVM, and their professionals, must provide to the Council for Financial Activities Control (COAF). The new agreement also reaffirms joint initiatives under the Continuing Professional Education Program and the External Quality Review Program. The agreement is set to run for 10 years from its publication in Brazil’s Official Gazette and can be extended through an addendum.
