The Oman Financial Services Authority will host an Accounting and Auditing Profession Forum on 26 and 27 July 2026 for accounting and auditing firms and sector professionals in Oman. Under the theme "Professional Standards for Enhancing Credibility," the forum is designed to update the market on recent regulatory and supervisory developments and support stronger professional compliance and practice standards. The programme will cover harmful practices identified by the authority's inspection teams during 2025 and 2026, with a focus on improving the performance of licensed firms. It will also address implementation of the trainee accountants register and the requirements of International Standard on Quality Management 1, including practical considerations for firms and the standard's role in strengthening audit quality and quality management systems. The forum follows the inaugural event held in September 2025 and comes after responsibility for regulating the accounting and auditing profession was transferred to the authority from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion under Royal Decree No. 20/2024. The first day will include an open discussion between the authority and firm representatives to address questions and gather views and recommendations. The second day will be dedicated to specialized training on International Standards on Auditing, supported by practical case studies and professional experience.
