The Central Bank of Nicaragua released the February 2026 Monthly Index of Economic Activity (IMAE), reporting that overall activity grew 6.3% year on year (from 6.5% in the prior month). Cumulative growth for January to February was 6.4%, while the average annual variation was 5.8%. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the IMAE fell 0.2% versus the prior month and rose 5.9% versus February 2025; the trend-cycle series increased 0.2% month on month and 5.9% year on year. The strongest annual gains were in mining and quarrying (32.8%), construction (18.2%), trade (15.6%), hotels and restaurants (7.8%), other services (7.4%), financial intermediation and related services (5.7%) and livestock (4.9%), while declines were recorded in fishing and aquaculture (-12.6%), public administration and defence (-3.1%), agriculture (-2.6%), energy and water (-2.3%) and forestry and logging (-0.3%).
