The Uganda Capital Markets Authority hosted an engagement with the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment, bringing together capital markets stakeholders to discuss how professional certification and continuous professional development can strengthen Uganda’s capital markets industry. The discussion centered on raising professional standards, improving ethical conduct and supporting investor confidence as markets evolve. The authority used the engagement to reiterate regulatory requirements on certification and continuous professional development for market participants. It linked ongoing learning and professional certification to market integrity and the need for investors to deal with competent and ethical professionals. Discussions also highlighted the Securities Industry Certification Programme and continuous professional development requirements as tools to keep intermediaries and practitioners current with technical knowledge, international best practices and emerging market trends.
