The National Bank of Slovakia’s Bank Board approved its September 2026 Macroprudential Commentary and kept the countercyclical capital buffer rate unchanged, repeating the buffer decision recorded at its March 2025 meeting. It also approved an amendment to the rules governing assessments of consumers’ ability to repay housing loans, with further details to be released separately. The board authorized banks and other cash handlers to recirculate category 2 euro banknotes using any successfully tested banknote handling machine in accordance with the relevant European Central Bank framework. It also took note of the autumn 2026 Economic and Monetary Developments report, which was subsequently published.

The National Bank of Slovakia kept the countercyclical capital buffer rate unchanged and approved amended rules for assessing consumers’ ability to repay housing loans. It also authorized the machine-based recirculation of category 2 euro banknotes and reviewed its autumn economic and monetary assessment.
