The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) and the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) have published an updated memorandum of understanding (MOU) to strengthen their cooperation and coordination arrangements in support of financial stability in Australia. The updated MOU sets out each agency’s roles and responsibilities for contributing to financial stability, along with arrangements for consultation, liaison and information sharing. It also specifies coordination arrangements between the RBA and APRA on macroprudential policy, liquidity support, payments policy and crisis management. Separately, the Council of Financial Regulators has published an updated charter, reflecting the framework for multilateral cooperation among the agencies.
