The Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF), together with the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), has commenced a joint assessor training course in Doha, Qatar, to build capacity for AML/CFT assessors. The five-day programme is hosted with support from the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf and in cooperation with Qatar’s National Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Committee, and is delivered by trainers from the FATF and MENAFATF secretariats. More than 40 trainees from over 25 MENAFATF and FATF member countries and other FATF-style regional bodies are participating, with MENAFATF positioning the training as part of an ongoing approach to technical support, capacity building and updates on AML/CFT developments.
