The Portuguese Securities Commission reported that assets under management in undertakings for collective investment in transferable securities reached EUR 28.02 billion in August 2026, up EUR 445.9 million, or 1.6%, from July. Alternative investment fund assets increased 7.5% to EUR 1.18 billion. Investment in foreign equities recorded the largest monthly increase at 18.4%, while holdings of domestic equities rose 3.8%. Germany remained the main investment destination, accounting for 24.8% of fund investments, followed by the United States at 16% and Luxembourg at 10.5%, while Portugal represented 7.2%. Caixa Gestão de Ativos held the largest management company market share at 30.2%, ahead of IM Gestão de Ativos at 22.5% and Santander Asset Management at 14.2%. Three funds began operating during August, one closed alternative investment fund was liquidated and three funds managed by Optimize Investment Partners were involved in mergers.
