The Portuguese Insurance Regulator (ASF) hosted a session at its auditorium as part of the 3rd International Conference of the Jean Monnet Module on “European Union Insurance Law: Challenges in the era of the SDGs”, where students from NOVA University Lisbon’s Law School presented research papers that were reviewed by ASF’s regulatory policy, legal, conduct supervision, and risk and solvency analysis teams. The papers addressed current issues for insurance regulation and supervision, including the prevention and fight against money laundering and terrorist financing, insurance protection gaps for natural catastrophe-related risks, discrimination in insurance contracts, and the right of recourse in compulsory motor third-party liability insurance. The session opened with welcome remarks by ASF board member Paula Vaz Freire, and ASF made her intervention available.
