The Central Bank of Paraguay has presented a rebased and updated Producer Price Index, shifting the index base to March 2025 from June 2011 and revising the basket and weighting structure used to measure average price changes for products sold in the country at the first level of commercialization. The update is intended to better reflect changes in Paraguay’s production structure, technology, relative prices and product mix. The revised basket expands to 460 products from 341, while the weighting structure has been updated after a long gap since the previous base. The project also refreshed the directory of reporting entities and the volume of prices collected. In parallel, the central bank developed a new in-house IT platform on a more modern technology architecture to replace the previous system and support more efficient, secure and scalable processing. The Producer Price Index will continue to be published monthly, with the statistical release and methodological note available on the central bank’s website.
