The Italian Institute for Insurance Supervision has ordered the blocking of www.sanrocco-online.com and sanrocco-online.com after finding that the site was offering insurance services without authorization. The measure adds to IVASS's use of its website blocking power against unauthorized online insurance activity. Blocking is being carried out by providers operating in Italy and, for technical reasons, may take several days to take effect. IVASS said the total number of abusive sites it has ordered blocked has reached 382 since it began exercising this power in November 2023. It also warned consumers to be cautious about insurance purchase offers made through instant messaging services or text messages, requests for payment by prepaid credit cards, and websites that do not appear on the official IVASS lists of supervised insurance intermediaries and insurance undertakings.
