The Egypt Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) formally launched its Regulatory Sandbox for technological applications at the FRA Fintech Forum 2025 and oversaw the signing of multiple memoranda of understanding with fintech ecosystem participants. The agreements focus on developing new technology solutions for the non-banking financial sector and strengthening data exchange and electronic connectivity among relevant entities. The MOUs include innovation partners AUC Venture Lab, Techne, Mercatura Forum, Tech Fin and Plug & Play Egypt, as well as a technology infrastructure partner, E-Finance. The forum also saw two MOUs with GIG Insurance and the Federation of Egyptian Insurance Companies, and investment and professional services partnerships with the Egyptian Institute of Accountants and Auditors and the office of Dr Khaled Abdel Aziz Hegazy for accounting, auditing and financial and tax advisory. The sandbox was established under FRA Board Decision No. 163 of 2024 and is designed to allow non-banking financial services providers using fintech, and entities applying for or registered in the FRA outsourcing register for fintech-related services, to test innovative fintech applications, including related business models and mechanisms.
