The Reserve Bank of Fiji has issued practical guidelines to support implementation of Fiji’s first Green Finance Taxonomy, launched in December 2025. Developed with the International Finance Corporation and the Climate Bonds Initiative, the guidelines explain how users can determine whether activities and investments align with the taxonomy. Assessments cover the taxonomy’s Technical Screening Criteria, Do No Significant Harm requirements and Minimum Social Safeguards. Case studies show how financial institutions can apply the framework to green loans for renewable energy, electricity grid infrastructure and other sustainable investments, supporting Fiji’s transition to a low carbon, climate resilient economy and its net zero emissions goal for 2050.
