China's National Financial Regulatory Administration held a party committee meeting to brief officials on Zhou Liang being placed under disciplinary review and supervisory investigation for suspected serious violations of discipline and law by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission. Chaired by party secretary and director Li Yunze, the meeting reaffirmed support for the central authorities’ decision and set out expectations for the regulator’s system to strengthen political discipline and implementation of major central decisions, maintain a high-pressure anti-corruption stance, and advance integrated measures to deter, prevent and reduce corruption. It also called on leaders to take responsibility for strict party governance, for officials to use the case as a warning and draw broader lessons, and for the organisation to conduct learning and education on correct approaches to performance assessment and the exercise of power.
