The Capital Markets Board of Türkiye announced that its Chair, İbrahim Ömer Gönül, who also serves as Vice Chair of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) Growth and Emerging Markets Committee (GEMC), took part in the GEMC annual meetings and conference held in Malta from 18 to 20 November 2025, followed by the IOSCO European Regional Committee meeting on 21 November 2025. The GEMC annual meeting covered the IOSCO work plan and issues of particular relevance to GEMC members, including work on expanding financial inclusion in emerging markets in the context of sustainability and financial technologies, increasing investment, and deepening markets. The associated conference included sessions on financial stability, steps taken in response to economic challenges, the future of capital markets, and digital finance and payment systems, while the market development workshop addressed the role of fintech and international cooperation, cyber resilience, and initiatives to deepen capital markets. The Board also contributed as a panellist, sharing experience in the ongoing GEMC Market Development Workshop and in the GEMC network focused on the adoption and other uses of International Sustainability Standards Board standards. At the IOSCO European Regional Committee meeting, members exchanged updates on retail investors’ online safety and regulatory innovation, with a focus on artificial intelligence, tokenisation, crypto-assets, and supervisory technologies.
