The Ukraine National Commission on Securities and Stock Market announced joint measures with the Cyber Police Department of the National Police to inform and protect investors from dubious investment projects, including blocking access in Ukraine to websites linked to suspected scams. The Commission referred a list of SCAM projects to the Cyber Police, describing them as likely operating from enemy territory while masking beneficial owners and the physical location of web pages. The Cyber Police then took steps within its competence to block access to the relevant project web pages in Ukraine to prevent potential harm. The Commission’s list contains 424 dubious investment projects and it highlighted common warning signs, including promises of outsized returns, lack of permits and licences, aggressive marketing, no physical office, lack of local registration, no investor accreditation, unverified management biographies, absence of signed documentation, pressure to recruit friends, and concealed ownership.
