Peru's Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and Private Pension Funds has approved a new anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML/CFT) standard for legal entities that operate remote gaming and/or online sports betting under the supervision of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR). The framework sets requirements, obligations, procedures and guidelines for these obliged entities to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing. The regulation covers core components of an AML/CFT prevention system, including customer due diligence covering clients, directors, employees and suppliers; AML/CFT training; a prevention manual and code; the appointment of a compliance officer (including a corporate and, where applicable, an alternate officer); transaction recordkeeping; and the compliance officer’s annual report. The standard was developed in coordination with MINCETUR and incorporates input received from the public and industry groups, referencing international standards and good practices. Affected entities have 120 days to implement or adapt their AML/CFT prevention systems to the new requirements.
