Bulgaria's Ministry of Finance published a joint statement with European Commissioner for Financial Services Maria Luis Albuquerque following a meeting in Sofia, outlining a shared commitment to further integrate Bulgaria’s financial system into the European framework and to deepen the European Union’s Savings and Investment Union. The discussions covered the development of capital markets, consumer and investor protection, and improved access to finance for small and medium-sized enterprises. The statement also highlighted the importance of financial literacy and strong, transparent institutions for attracting investment and fostering innovation, and exchanged views on mobilising private finance for Europe’s green and digital transitions. Both sides stressed that further EU capital markets development should follow an inclusive approach that reflects the interests of all Member States regardless of the size and level of development of their capital markets.
