The Central Bank of Oman participated in the 84th meeting of the Committee for Central Banks Governors of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States in Kuwait, led by Governor Ahmed Jaffer Salim Al Musalmi. The meeting reviewed committee and taskforce recommendations on banking supervision and surveillance, payment systems, and financial technologies across GCC States. Governors also discussed joint GCC work to develop the banking sector, including initiatives to facilitate transactions for GCC citizens and public and private institutions, alongside updates on anti-money laundering, counter-terrorism financing, and cybersecurity. The Committee reviewed the GCC General Secretariat’s report on implementation of decisions from the previous meeting and assessed latest developments in the signing and ratification of the agreement to link GCC payment systems, with decisions taken on agenda items.
