Chile’s Financial Market Commission (CMF) has extended the public consultation on a proposed framework for the fire insurance that condominiums must take out, alongside amendments to the existing rules on insurance tenders for mortgage loans. The proposal responds to the new Law on Housing Co-ownership, which requires the CMF to issue regulation governing the contracting, renewal and cancellation of condominium fire insurance. The consultation period has been extended until November 13, 2025, with submissions to be made via the CMF’s “Regulations Under Consultation” webpage, where the accompanying regulatory report and impact assessment are also available.
