The Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP), represented by Ombudswoman Aline Vieira, participated in a webinar hosted by the National Confederation of Insurers (CNseg) to present a consumer guide on Law 15.040/2024, Brazil’s new Insurance Law, which enters into force on 11 December. SUSEP’s contribution focused on how insurance ombudsman functions and customer service channels support consumer protection. The guide sets out key points of the new legislation aimed at helping consumers understand rights, coverage and contractual aspects of insurance. Vieira outlined the remit of SUSEP’s Ombudsman office, highlighted the need for smoother communication, and described ongoing work to strengthen ombudsman arrangements at supervised entities to improve consumer service. She also referenced SUSEP’s two-way approach to transparency and information flows and noted the use of the consumer.gov.br platform as a tool for resolving consumer demands, alongside recent data on Ombudsman case handling.
