The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission granted interim authorisation allowing Australian Payments Network Limited to continue giving effect to the certification, suspension and termination provisions of the Issuers and Acquirers Community Regulations and Code Set while the ACCC assesses AusPayNet’s application for reauthorisation. AusPayNet applied on 15 April 2025 to revoke authorisation AA1000495-1 and replace it with a new authorisation, covering provisions that have been authorised in some form by the ACCC since 2000. The reauthorisation request was made because the current authorisation is due to expire on 1 August 2025. The ACCC will now consider the substantive application for reauthorisation.
