The Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan has announced that Baku will host the next meeting of the Council of the central banks of the member countries of the Organization of Turkic States on 4 and 5 June. Senior officials from the central banks of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Uzbekistan and Turkey are expected to attend, together with observer delegations from Hungary and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States. Discussions will cover how participating central banks are addressing global and regional challenges, with a focus on safeguarding macroeconomic and financial stability, improving monetary policy transmission, and developing digital financial ecosystems including financial technology. The Council was established in 2024 as a consultative body to strengthen cooperation on monetary policy, financial stability, payment systems, fintech and related research, and its first meeting was held in Astana in 2025.
