The Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP) published its 2024 Management Report as its annual accountability document to society and internal and external oversight bodies. The report summarizes developments in the insurance, reinsurance, open private pension and capitalization markets under SUSEP supervision and outlines the start of SUSEP’s new 2024–2027 strategic planning cycle. Key market indicators cited include technical provisions under SUSEP jurisdiction reaching BRL 1.8 trillion (15.5% of Brazilian GDP) and supervised-sector revenue of BRL 435.6 billion, representing 7.6% real growth year on year. The report also highlights 2024 milestones including authorization for a public recruitment process for 75 SUSEP Technical Analyst positions, enactment of Law 15.040/2024 (the Insurance Contract Law), and approval by Congress of Complementary Law 213 (sanctioned in January 2025) addressing, among other topics, insurance cooperatives and mutualistic property protection operations; the superintendent characterises the two laws as the largest legal reform of the supervised market since 1966. It further notes SUSEP’s engagement with market participants, including through working groups tasked with producing studies to support near-term supervisory action.
