The Thailand Securities and Exchange Commission imposed civil sanctions on four individuals for jointly manipulating the price or trading volume of Thai Parcels Public Company Limited shares on their first trading day. The sanctions total THB 20,293,332 and include trading suspensions of six to 11 months and director and executive bans of 12 to 22 months. The four individuals placed large buy orders at high prices before the market opened, drove up the share price during trading, matched trades among themselves and maintained orders at multiple price levels to prevent declines. The conduct misled investors and caused TPL’s price or trading volume to deviate from normal market conditions. If an offender does not consent to the sanctions, the SEC will ask the public prosecutor to pursue maximum civil sanctions in court, at no less than the amounts prescribed.
