The Italian Institute for Insurance Supervision has warned that a counterfeit surety bond policy has been reported in the name of Tryg Forsikring A/S and has been disowned by the insurer. The notice clarifies that Tryg Forsikring A/S is a Danish insurance undertaking supervised by the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority and authorized to operate in Italy under the freedom to provide services in several non-life classes, including class 15 for surety, but it does not issue surety bond policies. IVASS also said the Danish supervisor informed it that the email address info@trigforsikring.it and the certified email address trigforsikring@pec-mail.it are not attributable to the insurer. Consumers are advised to verify before paying any premium that quotes and contracts relate to properly authorized firms and intermediaries, including by checking IVASS lists of insurers admitted to operate in Italy, the register of authorized surety insurers and policy verification methods, the registers of insurance intermediaries and European Union intermediaries, the list of supervised firms' websites and properly registered intermediaries, and IVASS warnings on counterfeiting, unauthorized firms and non-compliant websites.
