The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH) has become a member of the Euro Area Business Cycle Network (EABCN), an applied research forum aimed at improving understanding of the euro area business cycle by connecting central banks, academia and other policy institutions. The network has 25 members, and CBBH Chief Economist Belma Colakovic will represent the bank on the EABCN Management Board. EABCN, established in 2002, runs conferences and training schools designed around members’ needs, with training participation free for researchers from member institutions and with limited in-person places alongside unlimited online attendance. A notable activity is the euro area business cycle dating process, designed to be comparable to the National Bureau of Economic Research approach for the United States, which CBBH frames as relevant for analysis and policy formulation in neighbouring economies; the central bank expects participation to support its applied research, macroeconomic projections, and analysis of euro area cycle spillovers to EU candidate countries.
