The Australian Securities & Investments Commission has cancelled the Australian financial services licence of Eden Asset Management Pty Ltd after the firm entered liquidation. The cancellation was made with the consent of Eden’s liquidators, who advised that Eden was no longer trading and no longer needed the licence. ASIC said it made enquiries about Eden’s non-compliance with statutory reporting, audit and financial requirements before cancelling the licence. Eden had held the licence since 13 February 2006, and ASIC noted it may cancel a body corporate’s licence without a hearing where the entity is a Chapter 5 body corporate, including one that is being wound up or is under administration.
