Egyptian Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk called for developing countries to have greater influence over the international financial architecture and for the global financial system to respond more closely to emerging economies’ growth and development priorities. Speaking at the BRICS Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Session in India, he urged multilateral development banks to expand low-cost financing to help developing countries manage risks and pursue development. Kouchouk also advocated integrating digital systems and artificial intelligence into structural reforms to strengthen human capital, productivity and competitiveness. He said deeper trade and investment ties across the Global South could help economies mitigate economic and geopolitical volatility.
