The Italian Institute for Insurance Supervision (IVASS) ordered the cessation of unauthorised insurance intermediation carried out through two websites and instructed their blocking in Italy. The order covers www.preventivi.sarabertolazzi.it (and preventivi.sarabertolazzi.it) and www.giornaliere.sarabertolazzi.it (and giornaliere.sarabertolazzi.it), which were offering insurance services without authorisation. Blocking by internet service providers operating in Italy is underway and may take several days for technical reasons. The cease-and-desist orders are published in the “Defend ourselves from scams” section of the IVASS website, bringing the total number of sites subject to such orders to 196 since IVASS began exercising its blocking powers in November 2023. IVASS also reiterated consumer guidance to verify, before paying any premium, that quotes and contracts relate to duly authorised insurers and intermediaries, including by checking IVASS registers and lists, particularly for temporary motor third-party liability policies.
