The Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA) announced that the AIFC Court has issued injunctions against the operators of six unlicensed crypto platforms following proceedings initiated by the regulator. The orders prohibit the operators from providing, offering or advertising digital asset services within the AIFC without the appropriate licence, including making mobile applications available for those services. The decision also applies to Google and Apple in relation to geographically restricting access through their application stores. The injunctions currently cover BingX, Bitcoin.com, Huobi Global (HTX), BitMart, Coinbase and WEEX. The court’s Sept. 15, 2026, judgment initially also covered LBank, but the court removed its operator on Sept. 18 after it independently blocked access to its services in Kazakhstan. Orders will be sent to Google Play and the Apple App Store operators to enforce access restrictions for the six remaining platforms. The proceedings followed written warnings issued to more than 20 crypto platforms in 2025 and legal action initiated in early 2026. Nine platforms voluntarily restricted access to their applications in Kazakhstan, prompting AFSA to withdraw its claims against them, while seven others expressed an intention to seek licences to operate digital asset trading facilities. The court found that unauthorised services undermine the AIFC regulatory framework and create unfair competition for licensed firms bearing compliance costs. Customers of unlicensed platforms lack the regulatory protections applicable to licensed firms, including asset safeguarding, disclosure, complaints handling and dispute resolution requirements.
