The Bank of Canada’s Board of Directors has launched a recruitment process for the external Deputy Governor position vacated following Nicolas Vincent’s appointment as a full-time Deputy Governor. The board has formed a selection committee and retained Egon Zehnder to support the search. Created in 2022, the external Deputy Governor role is a part-time appointment for a two-year term, with a possible extension of one or two years. The successful candidate will join the Governing Council and contribute to monetary policy, financial stability assessments, strategic thinking, communications and outreach. The selection committee is seeking candidates with extensive senior-level experience in economics, finance, financial markets or related fields, as well as the ability to assess and communicate complex issues.
