The Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan reported on its participation in an International Monetary Fund regional event in Zurich on central bank governance and policy frameworks, where Deputy Governor Ali Ahmadov delivered opening remarks and Monetary Policy Department Director Azer Alasgarov presented on Azerbaijan’s monetary policy communications. The 10–12 November programme was organised by the IMF’s Regional Capacity Development Center for the Caucasus, Central Asia and Mongolia with support from the Swiss National Bank and Deutsche Bundesbank, and brought together senior officials from multiple central banks. Ahmadov discussed measures implemented in recent years to strengthen the central bank’s monetary policy framework and their role in supporting macroeconomic stability and developing domestic financial markets, and pointed to ongoing work to expand analytical capacity to improve transmission to the real sector, modernise money market operations and deepen financial markets. Alasgarov outlined communication tools and channels used for different target groups, the central bank’s approach to evaluating communication outcomes, and initiatives to expand information disclosure.
