The National Bank of Moldova has made its MIA Instant Payments system available for instant company-to-company (B2B) transfers in Moldovan lei, executed through payment service providers’ internet and mobile banking channels. Transfers can be initiated and received 24/7, including outside providers’ working hours, with real-time settlement in seconds. The B2B functionality is designed for commercial payments such as invoices, advances and other trade-related transfers, supporting real-time liquidity management and reducing delays. Transactions are charged at 0.7% of the transfer amount, capped at MDL 40 per transaction, and the feature adds to existing MIA services including instant person-to-person transfers and payments for business and public services; MIA was launched on 12 March 2024 and is reported to be used by every second citizen with at least one bank account.

MIA, launched in March 2024, is already widely used for person-to-person and business payments.
