Argentina’s Ministry of Finance announced that Economy Minister Luis Caputo will travel to Washington, DC to attend the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Spring Meetings, including participation in discussion panels and a programme of high-level meetings with both institutions and with European and Indian counterparts. Caputo is scheduled to meet IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and World Bank President Ajay Banga, as well as IMF First Deputy Managing Director Gita Gopinath. The agenda also includes bilateral meetings with Germany’s Finance Minister Jörg Kukies, France’s Minister for the Economy, Finance and Industry Éric Lombard, Italy’s Minister of Economy and Finance Giancarlo Giorgetti, the Netherlands’ Finance Minister Eelco Heinen, and India’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. He will take part in the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) plenary and introductory sessions and in G20 ministers’ sessions covering the global economy, international financial architecture, the Sustainable Finance Working Group update, financial sector and financial inclusion issues, and constraints on growth and development in Africa. The ministry also noted Caputo’s participation in the IMF and Financial Stability Board (FSB) Early Warning Exercise, a semi-annual assessment of low-probability, high-impact risks to the global economy. Finance Secretary Pablo Quirno will attend meetings coordinated by the Inter-American Development Bank and participate in an event hosted by the United States Chamber of Commerce.
