The National Bank of Moldova has calculated and notified licensed banks of the amounts, instalments, payment deadlines and payment format for their contributions to the bank resolution fund to be paid during 2026. Total system-wide contributions for 2026 were set at MDL 116.98 million. The contribution calculation is based on a target level of 3% of guaranteed deposits, a coefficient adjusting for deposit growth, and bank-specific risk adjustment multipliers. The 3% target level established under Law No. 232/2016 on bank recovery and resolution was reached for the first time on 31 December 2024, and is re-evaluated annually based on system-wide guaranteed deposits as at the end of the first half of the preceding year. Using the position as at 30 June 2025, the recalculated target level was MDL 1,402.0 million, driven mainly by the increase in deposit coverage under Law No. 160/2023 from MDL 100,000 to MDL 200,000. As at 30 June 2025, the resolution fund’s resources stood at MDL 880.9 million, comprising banks’ contributions and income from investing the fund’s resources.
