The Algeria Market Authority (COSOB) approved the creation of the University Fund for Innovation and Start-ups, a venture capital mutual fund with proposed initial assets of DZD 280,354,200. The fund is the second to receive approval under the regulatory framework for collective venture capital investment undertakings established in 2024. The fund will invest in unlisted innovative companies, projects and startups linked to Algeria’s university, scientific, technological and entrepreneurial ecosystem. Its target sectors include digital transformation and artificial intelligence, health and biotechnology, agriculture and food, energy and the environment, industry and materials, logistics and technology services. It is intended to help high potential projects progress from innovation and research to investment and large scale development. The fund will be managed by the University of Algiers 3 Financial Investment Company, a joint stock company within the higher education and scientific research sector.
