The Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates has been named Risk Manager of the Year 2026 at the Central Banking Awards, recognising its approach to operational risk management and the adoption of advanced methodologies. Recognition focused on the shift from traditional assessment models to a forward-looking, artificial intelligence-enabled ecosystem that combines AI with a Governance, Risk and Compliance framework to create an organisation-wide view of risk flows. The Central Bank highlighted the deployment of an in-house AI Risk Agent, which has reduced manual risk identification time and supported earlier detection of “compound risks” at critical process stages, with these capabilities embedded in its five-year strategy under the “Resilience by Design” principle. The judging committee pointed to the bank’s single integrated view of risks across the organisation and early tangible results. The award will be formally presented at the Central Banking meetings in London in June 2026.
