The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) launched Bond Central, a centralised database portal intended to provide a single, authentic and free public repository of information on corporate bonds issued in India. Developed by the Online Bond Platform Providers Association (OBPP Association) in collaboration with Market Infrastructure Institutions (stock exchanges and depositories), the portal is operated by the not-for-profit OBPP Association with support from the MIIs. Features include consolidated bond listings across exchanges and issuers, tools to compare corporate bond prices with Government Securities and other fixed-income indices, access to risk assessments and bond documents and disclosures, and standardised corporate bond data to reduce information asymmetry. The first phase is live, with additional features to be added on an ongoing basis based on stakeholder feedback.
