The Central Bank of Samoa (CBS), together with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the Climate Finance Access Network (CFAN), held a one-day sustainable finance and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) workshop for Samoa’s financial institutions as part of CBS’s Sustainable Finance Initiative. The programme brought together representatives from licensed commercial banks and insurance companies and CBS staff, and covered sustainable finance principles and ESG frameworks with a focus on climate-related risk assessment and management, sustainable product development, investor engagement, and emerging supervisory expectations, supported by case studies and hands-on exercises. CBS Governor Maiava Atalina Ainuu-Enari delivered the keynote address, highlighting the role of financial institutions in directing financial resources toward a climate-resilient and sustainable economy.
