The Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Central Bank of Sudan to formalize and expand bilateral cooperation in central banking. The agreement is intended to strengthen the institutional and legal basis for cooperation, broaden direct engagement between the two authorities, and promote the exchange of knowledge and best practice. The memorandum was signed after a meeting between Chairman Taleh Kazimov and a delegation led by Central Bank of Sudan Governor Amna Mirgani during the 51st Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group. Their discussions covered macroeconomic conditions and trends, mechanisms to improve monetary policy transmission, deeper correspondent banking relationships, and approaches to expanding financial inclusion. Under the memorandum, cooperation will cover monetary policy, the financial sector, payment systems, financial technology, banking supervision, and anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing, with meetings, seminars, experience-sharing, training programs and working visits envisaged to support implementation.
